Detailed program: Itinerary
Day 1: Start of the 6-day jaguar safari
In Cuiabá we will welcome at either the airport or hotel. We start a 100km drive towards the city of Pocomé, the gateway to Pantanal.When we drive out of Poconé we transition from a paved road to the Transpantaneira highway, a dirt road. As we drive on the Transpantaneira we can enjoy and spot a variety of wildlife near the road while crossing 122 bridges as we continue to Porto Jofre (150 km).
On the way from Poconé to Porto Jofre, we can spot marsh deer, south american coati, anaconda, giant anteater, toco toucans, tapirs, armadillos, hyacinth macaws, crab-eating fox and more. We arrive at Porto Jofre in the late afternoon. We check-in, relax and after diner we share the program of day 2 and how to prepare.
Day 2: Full day on the boat spotting jaguars
Early morning breakfast and we embark our boat between 6.45 -7.00 am to start our search for jaguars.
From the lodge it takes approx. 35 minutes to drive by boat to the three brothers river. It is the best area in the world to spot and photograph jaguars.
We will spend the full day on the river in search of jaguars (approx. 10-12 hours). When all the boats return to the lodge for lunch, we enjoy a picknickstyle lunch in the prime jaguar area not wasting any time and enjoy sightings all by ourself.
We will arrive back at the lodge around 5.30 – 6 pm. After arriving you can refresh, relax little before we have a delicious diner together at the restaurant.
Wildlife: besides jaguar we have chances on seeing giant river otters, howlerand capucin monkey’s, anaconda and a variety of birdspecies. The prime focus will be on jaguars however if we encounter beautiful wildlife we take time to enjoy it all.
Day 3: Full day on the boat spotting jaguars
Same as previous day.
Dag 4: Full day on the boat spotting jaguars
Same a previous day.
Day 5: Full day on the boat spotting jaguars
Same as previous day.
Day 6: End of the jaguar safari
After breakfast we check-out and start our way back towards Cuiaba. We normally arrive in Cuiaba around 12 am (lunch time). However if you have an early flight to catch, we can arrange a more early transport to the airport.
Note: For photographic safaris we can start even earlier in the morning to be on the river by sunrise
