Detailed program: Itinerary
Day 1
We will welcome you at the airport or your hotel and depart to the Pantanal. We’ll drive south to Poconé to connect with the Transpantaneira highway.
From Poconé we continue and drive further along the Transpantaneira, one of the Best wildlife viewing areas in the entire world. Keep your eyes open for endangered marsh deer, South American coati, anacondas, giant anteater, toco toucans, tapirs, armadillos, hyacinth macaws, and a host of other animals and birds.
We arrive to Pousada Piuval in time for lunch. In the afternoon we have our first game drive on the enormous private property of the lodge.
Pousada Piuval is a countryside lodge located at Poconé, in Pantanal of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The lodge is linked to Transpantaneira highway via a private service road of 7km, slightly elevated and with access throughout the year, presenting excellent conditions for region’s privileged flora e fauna photography. This area is known as one of the best places for birds and mammals in the northern Pantanal. The wetlands and gallery forests here are home to many of the birds and monkeys.
Day 2
Early morning walk for bird and wildlife viewing. Return to lodge for Breakfast. After breakfast, we will have a game drive to spot for Giant anteaters, armadillos, lesser anteater, owls, storks, coatis, capybaras, hyacinth macaws, howler monkeys, and a dozen of other animals and birds. Back to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, there is a chance to relax at the lodge. The lodge has a pool for swimming. Late afternoon we are going for a game drive looking for animals such as Giant anteater, southern tamandua, crab-eating fox, tapirs, ocelots and birds.
* During our stay at the lodge we can also navigate the Pantanal by boat and explore on horseback well.
Day 3
Early morning walk for bird and wildlife viewing. Return to lodge for breakfast. After breakfast we check-out and continue on the Transpantaneira towards Pantanal Mato Grosso hotel. During our drive we spot and enjoy the wildlife in the wetlands on both sides of the road. We arrive around lunch time. We have lunch, check-in and in the afternoon explore for wildlife by boat on the Pixiam river. It provides with excellent opportunities to photograph birds in flight such as kingfishers and a variety of hawks. On the Pixiam river we can encounter Giant river otters, capbiara, jacare caiman as well.
After dinner we embar our car for a nightsafari using spotlight to try and spot elusive species such as ocelot.
Day 4
Full day of wildlife spotting and photography. We can decide to either do a boat ride in the morning of afternoon and go for a game drive by car as well and include the nightsafari using a spotlight.
Day 5
Early morning walk/ game drive to spot for wildlife and return for breakfast. After breakfast we check-out and start our way back towards Cuiaba. We normally arrive in Cuiaba around 12 am (lunch time). However if you have an early flight to catch, we can arrange a more arrival at the airport.
